Mission and Vision

Mission:

To deliver dependable, impactful, tailored software solutions to businesses in Brisbane’s Bayside area, streamlining operations and helping local businesses thrive and achieve their ambitions.

Vision:

At MakoDev, we aim to empower Brisbane’s Bayside businesses with ethical, tailored software solutions. Committed to long-term partnerships and community growth, we combine agility and expertise to deliver innovative and personalised service. Our vision is to be the preferred choice for businesses seeking a collaborative and socially responsible software development partner.

No Fishy Business

At MakoDev we are driven by a strong sense of ethics, and one of our key principles is openness. This can take a number of forms, such as open standards and open-source software, which can drastically reduce costs and generally allow for increased compatibility.

MakoDev is also open about the work that it does. We’re against the idea of vendor lock-in, solutions provided by us belong entirely to the customer and can in theory be worked on by any other software company. Of course, we hope you’ll love our services so much that you’ll come back to us if you need more work done!

MakoDev delivers iteratively and transparently using agile methodology, while embracing an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) approach; first, we get the most essential functionality in place. Over time, we build additional functionality and polish upon that. Developing in an agile manner encourages close collaboration with key stakeholders and rapid feedback loops all the way through the project ensuring there are no nasty surprises. These two techniques together enable a functional product in less time and within budget while allowing scope for further improvements as desired.

Phil Watson

Senior Software Consultant

Phil is a Bayside local with almost twenty years of professional software development experience, and has been doing it for fun for much longer.

Born and raised in the frozen wastes of North-East Scotland, Phil knew there must be a better life to be had and found it when he arrived in Brisbane a little more than ten years ago. His passions in life are seeing the world, riding his motorbike, tinkering with retro computer hardware, and taking care of his wee family.

Phil has a special fondness for the free and open-source software ecosystem (FOSS) and spends a lot of time tinkering with Linux. He favours cross-platform and open-standards when developing, and has developed applications for many platforms including web, desktop, mobile, and even game engines such as Unity and Godot.

Phil has worked across a large variety of sectors, including oil & gas, mining, energy, finance, marketing, government, and agriculture. He holds a degree in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.
